Rooted & Rising’s state-licensed Growing Tree Children's Center is dedicated to providing a well-rounded, age-appropriate early childhood education experience for all children. Our play-based, child-centered approach and safe, nurturing environment has always been at the core of what we offer families and their children.
Located within Rooted & Rising’s facilities at the corner of 40th and Lisbon in Milwaukee’s Washington Park neighborhood, the Growing Tree provides 1st shift child care for kids between 6 weeks and 12 years. We accept private pay and Wisconsin Shares from families from all zip codes.
As a supportive agency, we offer low rates because we focus on supporting families, not profit. We’re committed to providing high-quality care that’s affordable and accessible to all.

A Look Back at Our Summer & Fall Festivities and What's Ahead
At our nature-based center, we’ve had an action-packed summer and fall, filled with fun, learning, and growth for our children and families. We broke ground on our new outdoor playscape. As we awaited the completion, we visited local parks and nature centers which provided perfect settings for a season of exploration and discovery. From creating themed gardens to nature art projects, our summer program was packed with activities that allowed children to connect with the environment in meaningful ways.
As the leaves began to change, our fall festivities continued to embrace the beauty of the season. Our agency’s annual Chili Fest was a highlight, where children and families gathered in and around our playscape to decorate pumpkins, indulge in fall-themed games and of course, sample over 20 different kinds of heartwarming chili.
Looking to the future, we’re excited to continue building on these successes. Our plans for the upcoming seasons include introducing a Snow Science Lab to add to our hands-on nature experiences. We’re committed to creating an environment where children can grow, learn, and develop a lasting love for the outdoors. As always, our goal is to nurture the next generation of environmental stewards—one adventure at a time.

What’s Next? A New Outdoor Playspace for the Growing Tree!
At Rooted & Rising, our passion for early childhood education is reflected in the agency’s commitment to continued improvement and investment in the Growing Tree Children’s Center’s staff, facilities and programming. We are particularly energized by ongoing plans to construct a new outdoor educational space that will incorporate multiple age-appropriate playscapes, materials that are inclusive of all abilities, and natural landscaping, stormwater management and other forms of green infrastructure to support our nature-based curriculum while also benefiting the health and vibrancy of our urban environment. This space will provide a safe environment for our little ones to explore while challenging our older children to use their bodies and minds in new ways.
